'She's Ready' to raise money for Community Works!

We recently announced the launch of 'She's Ready' -  a new project Community Works is running aimed at "Inspiring women to be active in their local community".

She’s Ready is a social movement enabling women to empower other women to be more active and get ready to change the narrative around volunteering.

One of our lovely women and attendees of Community Works Women's Group has taken up this challenge with gusto! Trish has been a long time supporter of Community Works and its services and regularly volunteers in Community Works Re-Use store, however this time, inspired by the She's Ready ethos and passion for the work we do to support the community she is going the 'extra mile'!

Trish has taken up a Conqueror's Challenge  Length of the UK Virtual Challenge | The Conqueror Virtual Challenges to walk the virtual length of the UK - that's1,083 miles (1,743 km) road trip from Land's End to John O’Groats - how amazing is that! This activity really is a physical and mental challenge for Trish but she is determined to raise money for Community Works so that we can continue to support others through the many services we have to offer for people of all ages.

Trish states on her Go Fund Me Page: Fundraiser by Trish Beadle : Trish's fundraiser for Community Works (gofundme.com)

"Community Works supports many individuals and families and makes a real difference in our local communities.

They provided so much support throughout the Covid pandemic, providing Information, Advice & Guidance, giving out food parcels, getting in shopping for those that were unable to, picking up prescriptions, as well as befriending calls and 121 support.

They continue to help our communities grow stronger through the many projects they offer, such as the Re-use Store, Foodbank, Youth Support Groups, Skate Park, Holiday Play Schemes, Meals on Wheels, Social Car Scheme, Dementia Day Care, Befriending, Adult Support Groups, Drop ins, Training, & Employment Support, Inclusive Sports & Activities, Craft Groups and 121 support.

I would like to raise as much money as possible to help Community Works continue providing the services they do, especially as things are difficult in this current financial climate.

I am undertaking a virtual walking challenge with the aim of achieving 1083.8 miles - the same distance as Lands End to John O Groats. I am tracking my progress through the Conqueror's Challenge app and am posting regular updates of my progress on social media.

All donations, whatever size will be gratefully received.

Thank you for your support, wish me luck!, Trish

Not everyone will do what Trish is doing, but maybe the challenge for you is to become active in a different way, perhaps by volunteering yourself (we have many great opportunities at Community Works, or perhaps it might be something else in the community). Perhaps, you may be a woman reading this and you'd like to know more about our women's group and She's Ready, including the Social Enterprise we are starting that aims to turn people's love of being creative and making things into unique products that we will sell in our Re-Use Store. Or perhaps you may consider sponsoring and encouraging Trish by donating either on the Go Fund Me Page (see link above) or dropping in cash donations to Community Works in an envelope marked 'Trish's Sponsored Walk Donation'.

If you would like to know anymore about She's Ready, Women's Group, Volunteering or how you can support the work of Community Works and make a difference in the the community, please get in touch at info@communityworks.uk or telephone 01845 524494
